how do you give yourself encouragement when you have awriting assignment you must complete, and you really want to, but somehow every part of you is fighting it tooth and nail. my brain feels like its going to explode, but i need it to write this synopsis.
Why does writing something i care about make me want to do ANYTHING else???!!!?? :(?
When I'm trying to write something and it feels like it is stuck somewhere in the vicinity of my ear, I usually turn off all distractions and sit at the kitchen table with enough light to see by and music playing in the background that I like but I won't end up singing to. Then I just start writing down random thoughts until I find one that I feel like I can start with.
Now, I am a little obsessive-compulsive so this might not work for you. The best thing I can say is relax... the more you worry about it, the harder it will be to let the ideas come through.
Reply:get really busy. then come home and just do it. then it's over. You know better!!
Reply:Make yourself a nice sandwich and have a cold drink maybe even a glass of wine, beer, or sherry to relax yourself and take a nap. When you wake up refreshed try to get at it again. You are stressed out over this assignment and simply need to relax so you can focus, by the way a little sex wouldn't hurt either(smile)!
Reply:yeah it happens!!
u tend to concentrate on things u don't want to!!
but it is like a cycle and u quickly again composure!!
Reply:Buckle down and do it. In self-help and chemical dependency recovery groups, they say, "Fake it 'til you make it." Mostly it means that going through the motions will eventually help you to actually get into whatever it is you're doing.
Even if it feels like you're wading through molasses, just sit down and start it. When another thought comes to mind, acknowledge it, then dismiss it. Don't allow yourself to get wrapped up in it or distracted by it.
Best wishes!
Reply:Try free writing. Write anything without interupption. Block everything out and just write. Don't worry about punctuation, grammar yet, just write what's on your mind. Pretend you are writing to yourself. Don't think of it as an assignment.
