Does anybody else believe in a god outside of an organized religion?

i was raised and schooled roman catholic. but as i grew older, the idea of religions just really bothered me. i witnessed how many people would argue tooth and nail to say that their religion was the right one. why do people see it this way? why do they feel the need to fight over their beliefs, and kill for them? it's so hypocritical to hate and kill, especially in the name of god. it seems a lot of the more extremist fundamentalists just overlook that part. isn't religion about acceptance? why can't they just say, "that's fine. i respect your beliefs, but that's not what i believe." "okay, you're entitled to that." i think buddhism and native american beliefs are probably the closest to the most "correct" religion, because they're so in-tune with the world around them, and are more considerate to other beliefs. i don't believe in religion - i think it's a terrible thing, responsible for more deaths than any political wars or epidemics of disease. but i believe in god.

Does anybody else believe in a god outside of an organized religion?
I expect there are millions of people who believe in God, or in some holy book like the Bible, but are not members of any organized church.
Reply:i think a god is likely. that's all.

organized religion is bunk.

cult books, like the bible, are bunk.

i believe in being charitable and helpful to others. if god can't deal with that, well then, it's his problem for hiding from me.
Reply:i do. i prefer my own religion where yes, i do believe in god. but only i practice peace...no fighting are arguing.

but i get what you're saying.

good question.

peace.
Reply:Yes, I believe pretty much the same as you. I think something made us, but I don't think it was a guy with a long beard sitting in his king chair watching everything we do. There is no religion I can belong to because I believe my own way. Religions all claim to be correct and think evryone else is wrong. They are like cults.
Reply:You will not find God through religion. You will find God in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Reply:I am not a part of any organized religion.. Beside, God said He hates religions.

I walk in faith, do His works, worship, study the Bible, was saved when I was 17, help others, witness and above all, I love the Lord with everything in me....

Believing Jesus is the Son of God, was crucified, rose again and will come again, accepting Christ as my personal Savior and living only by His word--- I am going to Heaven....
Reply:I believe you.
Reply:Actually "False Prophets" using Religion as a lame excuse kill others, start wars and such,,,,,God warned of these false prophets and people doint things unjustly in his name.
Reply:I agree with you.I think most religions have to much dogma.I wouldn't really worry about being in a certain religion.Just love God the way you want to.
Reply:God can go as far as outside the earth's atmosphere. The religious concept of god is a mis-conception thus many are mislead by the doctrine of religion. It seems the god of religion is really the devil because of the amount of ignorance and separation and hatred that comes out of religion. They seem to outweigh the 'righteous and innocent' souls.

Afterall i know god would not want us separated but the god of the bible did it with the tower of Babel, which raises the question- What kind of god is that....really?
Reply:Your god is the devil...
Reply:Unless you can accurately and confidently answer the following question, it will be impossible for you to be sure that your god is holy and not evil. How can I tell the difference between thoughts inspired by the unholy spirit and The Holy Spirit?
Reply:Deists, theists, pantheists . . . sure, lots of people believe in a god, or gods, or god/desses, or some pervasive sense of the sacred or divine without being part of any organized religion.

I'm a heathen . . . we're about as far from organized as it's possible for a religion to be, lol. Ask any three of us the same question and you'll get at least FIVE different opinions!

Going out on a limb here, and not to proselytize, but since you mentioned both Buddhism and Native American spirituality . . . were you aware that *every* culture had its own native, indigenous spirituality/folk religion at one time? The things that attract you in those two paths are probably also found in the beliefs of your own ancestors as well (most indigenous folk customs share certain commonalities), and the things you DID like about the RCC were probably *borrowed* from them! :-)

Just sayin' . . . take a look at Joseph Campbell's "The Power of Myth" for a deeper understanding of how myths and ancient religions expressed MUCH deeper truths than "and that is where RAIN comes from!"
Reply:God doesn't require organized religions, but organized religions require God. Even Scientology. Any time someone can use religous people for their profit its done so the religion takes the fall, such as the Crusades and the attendant Islamic government. Jesus perdicted or prophecied that prior to his return very few people would be praying so its certainly not going to happen any time soon. Which also means that when we die in our belief that God is just we will awaken to his glory as if no time had passed, certainly nothing to kill others over.
Reply:If there is a god, He/She must be outside of organized religion, because organized religion often doesn't seem to have Him/Her within their pantheon.
