When people complain about fuel prices, why don't they ever blame the Democrats, who are truly at fault?

The Dems have fought against every measure that had any real chance of creating energy independence,or had any real chance of at least decreasing our dependence on foreign sources of energy.

They have fought tooth and nail against building any new refineries anywhere in the US where they have any control. They have fought against us getting our own oil, which we have abundant supplies of in a few locations such as coastal drilling,or in ANWR.

They have fought against Nuclear energy at every step, while promoting pipe dreams like Wind and Solar energy. It does not seem to matter to them that much of the rest of the world produces their lower levels of "greenhouse gasses" specifically because of their use of Nuclear energy. Such as Japan and France,as but two examples.

The list really goes on and on,but the point is simple. If we want to blame someone for our current energy condition lets put the blame where it belongs!!

When people complain about fuel prices, why don't they ever blame the Democrats, who are truly at fault?
It is just so much easier to blame "the mean Republicans"

The fact that people are this naive today, with information so readily available, is really a sad state.

People let their preconceived notions, and not facts, sway their opinions.
Reply:Thank you, I needed a good laugh this morning. Oil prices couldn't possibly have anything to do with conflicts in the Middle East or oil companies who are making record profits as they rob the people blind.

Every time someone tries to invent or produce an alternative to using oil, they are stonewalled by the government, by oil companies, by car companies, and by anyone else who benefits from oil.

The solutions you are proposing are extremely short-term solutions or have serious repercussions.

To even suggest that Republicans do not share some portion of the blame completely ignores the facts, but I guess Republicans are good at that. Many top level Republicans have strong ties to oil companies. It is Republicans who most strongly support the so-called free-market, which allows all companies, not just oil companies, to rob people blind, by creating monopolies.

The Republicans have been in power for nearly 8 years now. They have managed to push through all sorts of legislation that the Democrats have fought against, but somehow the Democrats managed to prevent the passing of the sort of legislation you are supporting?
Reply:fuel prices aren't high because we can't drill here... i'd explain, but i am sure you'd rather listen to the voices in your head.
Reply:Blame the people who really put us in this spot? Where's the fun in that?

Mostly it's because the people who caused our energy dependence are simply too weak willed to take responsibilty for their actions. After all someone voted for these Democrats who are destroying our country,do they really want to admit they are the cause of our problems by attacking their own?
Reply:Because politicians from both parties are responible, not just one. Also the reality of waning supplies, etc. is contributing.

Then I'm sure some don't complain because if we want to not have chronic lung problems, cutting back is a good idea. Too many emmissions results in mild to moderate carbon monoxide poisoning to the people in the the area.
Reply:It couldn't be the increased global demand for oil or the decreased value of the dollar.

Heck we have the NIMBYs in my hometown who don't want wind power. And trust me they aren't Democrat.
Reply:I didn't know rhe democrats owned the oil companies.
Reply:Much of what you say has some merits of truth, but oil prices are determined by the world market and how many oil producing countries are willing to sell to the US. Our current Middle East policy doesn't make us very popular with a lot of OPEC countries, and the Fed lowering interest rates drives up inflation and makes hard assets like oil cost more. So the latest oil problems are not entirely the fault of some of the Democratic opposition you mentioned to valid alternative energy research. Its hard to admit ethanol corn is not ergonomic when you depend on the votes of farmers either, and the increased farming of corn also is having an effect on agricultural prices because of diminished supply. There is a question about how much ANWR would yield if drilled, but the US could definitely benefit from looking into nuclear fusion. France generates 80% of its energy by nuclear power and does not have the oil dependency problems the US does, and for some reason the party that wants to copy them in every other way is scared to death after blowing tax payers money on securing Yucca mountain as a nuclear repository.
Reply:You are absolutely correct! I am also angry about ethanol that creates more problems than it helps.

An engineer at a large oil company has told me that it takes one and a half barrels of oil to produce one gallon of ethanol!

Not one person can explain to me how this is saving resources or promoting economical energy. Oil companies are also running at marginal or at negative margins. so where are all these big profits?

The prices of everything from wheat to chicken has also risen, and more wildlife areas will be destroyed as farmers push to plant more corn. Corn also destroys the land unless you rotate the crop.

Wind and solar is a joke on a large level. We have oil that we are purchasing from Russia at $100 a barrel being brought up from the same territory that belongs to the U.S.!!

Nuclear energy and more exploration for our own oil should not be halted due to the insanity of some!

Reply:The Democrats accomplished all that in the last 1.5 years they have been in power? That's amazing.

Blaming the Democrats for all those points is a pretty weak argument considering there was a Republican controlled congress from the early 1990s until 2006.

For 6 years the Republicans controlled the White House and the congress. Seems to me that was ample control for them to open up oil fields any where they had a mind to.

And if you review Bush's 200 campaign speeches, he promised to develop wind and solar energy.

Also blaming an agency like the EPA is again pointing the finger at Republicans. The EPA was Nixon's landmark legislation. Nixon and the Republican party created the EPA.
Reply:Oh yes, because the Democrats are pushing for those gas guzzlers, the Democrats are pushing for global increases in demand, and the Democrats are pushing the record profits enjoyed by the oil companies the past few years.

And looking for oil won't help. Anybody who passed high school algebra should know this. There is a finite source. Is that the Democrats fault? So what if you drill some more, but the inevitable still will happen, only later. Prices will rise. Are the Democrats responsible for the rules of how an economy works?

Sounds like Democrat Derangement Syndrome. The remedy: using thine own head and understanding that this is due to nature itself, with has given us the oil in the first place.
Reply:HUhhhhhhhhh................NO!

*LMAO* This one is 100% Repugnantain bunkee!

When that evil doer Saddam had the oil before George almighty was contacted by God and told to invade Iraq, regular gasoline prices fluctuated between $1.38 - $1.51 a gallon. Now with the help of his Saudi friends at OPEC....... it's $3.29 a gallon.

So......... go push your anti-American propaganda somewhere else chumlee......... WE AIN'T BUYIN' IT!

YOU and McCain and the rest of your Nazi friends are history come November. If a republican is going to run for anything now and be successful, they will have to be running for the border!

Say good bye to all the nice people............ LOL
