My daughter is in the habit of cutting nails with her teeth.My wife has even beaten her ,so that she should stop this habit but in vain.Now small boils have appeared in her mouth.What remedial measures should be taken to stop this habit?

First you should stop beating your daughter. The nail biting and mouth sores are not related.
Reply:Find a different habit to break this one. It is a proven study that on average it takes 3 weeks to break a bad habit. But this can differ with age. The older the harder

paint her nails when she is sleeping

Reply:What I did was I wore gloves around all the time. Remind her to cut her nails every week/week and a half or help her if she doesn't know how yet. There is also nail biting cream you can apply, such as Control It!, which makes the nails taste so bitter one wouldn't dare chewing on them, or just paint the nails.

As for the nail-biting, maybe it's a nervous reaction to the beatings.... if the authorities find out, expect a visit from Child Protection Services.





At 91/2 (I read your other questions) she can certainly 'be heard' if she tells someone she's being mistreated at home....





Maybe the 'boils' are some kind of infection... it's been advised to have her tonsils removed, so take her back to the MD/ENT and have her checked out... and if they notice signs of abuse, which is mandated to be reported, you and your wife can be facing criminal charges.

THERE ARE NAIL POLISHES MADE FOR THIS PURPOSE. THEY TASTE AWFUL AND DISCORAGE THE BEHAVIOR.
Reply:do not give her nail polish sooner or later she will get used to the taste this happens to me. so put something spicy on her nails.. or try paying her everytime she doesn't do it.(5$+)

but this method scared everyone in my family tell her that her nails have more bacteria than a public toilet. this is true nails do have more bacteria. and at night rub her nails with habanero jalapeños and it will burn her mouth
