I found the soloution. Who has a dog that doesn't like his Nails trimmed?

My dog fights me tooth and nail when it is time to trim his nails, he squirms and fights to get away. It usually takes me about a hour to trim them fighting the whole time. I found out by accident today how to do it with no trouble at all. While standing in front of a mirror, Hold the dog under one arm, with your free hand use your clippers to trim his nails. I don't know why it worked but it did, my dig didn't move a muscle and it was over in 3 minutes. Try it and let me know if if works for you.

What I did is bought a cheap treadmill and coated the track with sand grit. After a mile of walking the dog's nails are wore down.
Reply:Wow, I will have to try that. I'm wore out after trying to clip my dogs nails.
Reply:my dog hates it too.. i will definetaly try it thanx
Reply:LOL, don't think that will work with my 60 lb bassets.....

Good thing they don't mind having their nails done.

Congratulations for finding something that works for you!
Reply:I would like to know what kind of dog do you have.
Reply:my pup weighs 35 lbs, I can't hold him with one arm and trim with the other lol! but congrats on working it out! With mine, I've been doing ONE nail a day, and he gets a BIG treat after it. Now he throws his paw at me when I get the clippers out... still will only let me do one or two though... baby steps!
Reply:mine. She hates it.She always snaps at me when i try. But what works is pretend to be doing something else she doesnt mind and secretly cut her nails.Example: I pretend to brush her. After awhile i sneak the nail clipper out and clip her nails. it works most of the time
Reply:thanks, it worked for me .plus, just to say you are CUTE!
Reply:My dog is fascinated by mirrors. I think this is a great idea.
Reply:Maybe your dog saw it's reflection and thought, well, if that dog can do it, I can too. Or maybe he or she wanted to play tough for "the other dog" (his/her reflection)

Just a thought. I'll have to have my mom try that with her puppy. If you train them from the beginning to let you trim their nails you won't have any problems. But he's too little to have learned yet. I helped her trim his nails last weekend. I held him, she cut. I had scratches all over my neck from him trying to get away. But We got it done fairly quickly. He's tiny so it's pretty easy to hold him still.

Good Luck with your dog!
Reply:Thanks, I'll try that. Have a mirror on the floor. They're a little large for he vanity. I can't wait to try it.
Reply:my sister has a dog named cookie who hates anyone touching or clipping her nails. the 1st time my aunt cut her nails, one of them were cut 2 short and it bled. she has been terrified of the clippers every since. i will try that though. thanks 4 your help. = )
Reply:I had a pug(rescued from a shelter) who was terrible at nail cutting time, I use to tie him up on a short leash and hold a treat just out of his reach, as he tryed to get the treat I'd clip his nails... If only people would spend time playing with the nails and paws of puppies and get them use to the nail clippers then no one would have a problem. My cocker spainel lays on his back and often falls asleep when I cut his nails! I'm glad you found an easy way to clip your dogs nails, and I'll definatly try it for my next hard to nail clip dog!
Reply:wow i will have to try that my dogs hate to get their nails clipped.
Reply:I have someone else help me.

they hold her down like they do in the vets and then i cut.
Reply:THANKS i hope it works for me to but if not HAPPY THANKSGIVING anyway
