Why don't people tip groomers??
they preform a sevice like waiters, hair%26amp;nail dressers, even grocery sackers!!! but our "clients" bite,pull,fight us tooth and nail, their is probably is like 1/2 of 1% of dogs that get groomed that behave well. i'm just real curious why? the groomers i know love animals and their jobs but we work hard and really appreciate tips, :)

I currently groom under commission for a local vet. My tips make a world of difference in my income. I sold my own grooming salon last year to relocate to another state. I had 4 groomers working in my salon. They all worked under commission and they all received fairly good tips. When business was slow in the off season...I turned clients over to my groomers to make sure they still got the commission and tips while I took the loss. I...as an owner...also certainly %26amp; readily received tips for dogs I exhaused myself over. The tips helped to cover all the over head costs so I could actually have alittle cash in my pocket after paying for rent, supplies, equipment, equipment maintanence, shampoos, phones, water, electric, bathers, receptionists, accountants, attorneys, advertising, office supplies, IRS, etc.
We groomers are hair dressers...with a few major differences. We don't just cut the hair on top of some ones head. We cut our clients hair from head to toe to tail tip. We get bitten, peed on, pooped on, puked on. We get beat up by big dogs. We get uncontrollable little dogs. We get insane cats. We get table dancers. We get fainters. We get geriatric dogs that cannot balance themselves on 4 feet. When we finish a dog and he poops all over him self because the owner didn't take the time to walk him before bringing him in...we have to do the dog all over again. We get fleas. We get ticks. Sometimes we get maggots. We struggle with mats. I can go on and on. On a rare occasion we might even get a good little dog that just stands there and lets us do our job. Sometimes I do under charge...all more reason to be offered and accept a tip. Tell me the last time a well tipped hairdresser had a little old lady bite her, pee on her and then jump out of her chair and try to escape while she was in the middle of getting a perm.
I think I definately deserve to get a tip. I also want to note....I keep a record on client files of who and who does not tip. Although every clients dog gets the best quality clip....my tippers do get top priority when it comes to fitting them in for appointments during busy season....having them choose the best check in times and go home times....discounted prices....freebies....etc. Tipping does have it's rewards.
Equestrian....Groomers ARE beauticians...beauticians with a much more difficult job....and I don't think your answer touched a nerve with me....I think your answer HIT a nerve...HARD!

Advice on my 8 month old?! Please!?
I have a 9mo. old son.He has slept through the night since he was about 3mo.We got in a routine: he would go to bed at 10 pm, wake at around 8a.m,take a bottle, go back to sleep until 10-10:30a.m.Lately he's been teething. Last week he was so fussy with that 3rd one I thought I would pull my hair out! And, he started waking up at around 6 a.m., taking a bottle, going back to sleep, and getting up around 9. He was also refusing food; bottle and solids both.So, he finally got the tooth and on that same day he had a 9 month check up and the doc tells me that he has 2 ear infections.I started him on the antibiotics and he was much happier within 2 days.The problems now is he is still not wanting his solids, at all, and he barely wants his bottle.He'll drink a little, throw a fit and fight me tooth and nail not to take it, then he wants it %26amp; starts all over! And, he's still not sleeping as well!(That's prolly jus me!) What more can I do? How much Tylenol can 23lb. 9 mo. old for ear pain?

Try motrin- not only does it work better, it will last longer!
Origel makes an over-night gel that also works well. That might help him sleep for long periods.
Munchkin makes a ring w/ a sack that you can place frozen food in- if he's still teething, try that- so that he can suck on it and also get some vitamins that way (I recommend fruit or veggies).
When babies are sick, they like to nurse more often- but usually taking in smaller amounts. During the day try to feed him every hour or so, even if he doesn't drink a lot. As far as getting him to eat solids- try giving him some fruit or something that he usually enjoys eating. For my daughter, yogurt, sugar free jello or pudding worked well.

Reply:You know what? I have an 8 month old daughter so I know your pain. But I've found that Tylenol just does not help at all with teething pain! Can your son have motrin? Because I've found (and have been told by many other mommies) that Motrin works WONDERS on teething pain.
I don't have any tylenol here to check out their directions, but if you want to know about the Motrin, the recommended dosage for your son would be between 1.25mL and 1.875mL of the intended dropper.
Yikes girl, I hope your son gets to feeling better! Teething pain is nerve grating on both baby and mom, plus the added ear infections just make it worse! Good luck to ya!

Reply:If he seems hungry but won't take it after a few minutes it may be hurting his ear. Even though he had the antibiotic he can still be very sore. Try sitting him up more to give him a bottle so maybe it wont hurt so much to drink. As for the solids, be sure he is not getting a bottle too close to the time for his solids. If he has a bottle less than two and half hours prior to solids he won't really be hungry so he won't eat. Hope this helps.
Reply:According to the Tylenol chart my dr office gave me for 23 lbs Tylenol Infant Drops 1.2 mL (www.tylenol.com can give you infor on 24-35 lbs, also you can call your pharamcy and obviously dr) My son is 17 mo old and he had been sleeping through the night until the teething started. Then he had a pattern for getting up during the night, he still does it, but I don't mind. As for the eating solids again, he will when he is ready, don't push, offer his fav's if he eats, he eats, if he doesn't then offer again in a little while. When they teeth their ears can get infections usually pretty easily, and sometimes their throats get swollen too. Try offering him something cold. I found that Krogers carries mini popsicles on a stick, perfect for little slobbering boys. Also see if you can find some teething tablets, they worked wonders for my son.
Reply:I recommend the Infant's Motrin Dye-Free berry Flavored Drops over the Tylenol for pain. My sis is an ER nurse and she says that's what they use. Just look at the bottle and weight/dosage recommendations.
Also... you might want to prop your son up a bit instead of having him lay flat on his back. I heard that with ear infections the pressure of lying on the back hurts really bad.

My daughter slept through the night since she was 3 months, now every other day she'll get up around 11pm, 2 am and sometimes 4 am, her bed time is 8pm. Yesterday, I almost pulled my hair out, she work up at 3 and didn't go back to sleep until around 6 am. She was so exhuasted that she was having a hard time falling asleep. Just hang in there, it will get better, remember they are going through alot of pain. I heard that Motrin works wonders too so try that. talk to your ped first. Good luck.
Reply:ear infections can make it painful to suck on a bottle. I know it sounds wierd but its true. also the antibiotic could be giving him a tummy ache. dont worry he will get through it, give him baby orajel for his teething pain and tylenol for his ear pain. the ear pain should be gone very soon.
Reply:get a teething ring, or something else semi soft put it in the freezer so it gets cold, and give the baby that for the teething issue, it will soothe it some so he aint so cranky about it, and maybe even make him more able to eat once hes been chewing on it for a little while(my aunt used to use small bagels because its a little safer then it popping the teething ring if the liquid isnt just reg water in it). Tylenol they have the dropper thing usually for the baby, and you usually give it 0.4, or whatever is almost closest to the lowest amount.. call the doctor to be sure how much to give him, but chances are the tylenol isnt going to help much, it never did my kid.

They have infant motrin(1.8 ml is the dose for that) but the childrens always worked better. Tylenol also can cause stomach irritation.Try giving him the pain reliever anout 30minutes before feeding. Swallowing will irritate the ears if the pain is dulled he may handle it a bit better. Hang in there it will return to normal.At night teething gel may help him sleep too.

How do I get my toddler to eat???? HELP!!?
I never thought I'd be in this situation w/my 17.5 month old. She was such a good eater, not a big one, but a good one. There was no fruit or veggie that I put in front of her that she wouldn't eat. Now, thats a totally different story. In the past month she has fought me tooth and nail about food, she got sick this past week and is now feeling better. Since then she has barely eaten a thing. I refuse to give in, and feed her sweets or bad food. I've always been against it. I don't mind giving her wheat cracker or bread, but I can't seem to get her to eat anything except cheerios and milk or a couple of pieces of apple. Does anyone have any fast, easy, healthy food or meal ideas for my 17.5 month old...by the way she has 4 full teeth and a couple just poking thru so I worry about choking hazardous foods.

Reply:I've been through this too. My daughter is constantly changing what she'll eat and what she won't. One week her most disliked food was her previous favorite food. The one thing with her that was always consistent was cheerios, apples, and milk so I always had those on hand and if I could get her to eat anything else, it was a good day. I always offered her whatever the rest of the family was eating and if she refused I'd get her some cheerios and milk. I also noticed with her that she was a huge milk drinker and that fills up those little bellies fast. As she grows her appetite will increase and she'll be more open to trying new food.

I have not been able to sleep well for a few nights now. I saw this special on Cambodian child prostitution where 5 year olds were the greatest buy. And the vast majority of the "customers" were Americans! At a time when they should be playing with dolls, or jumping rope, or sticking teeth under their pillows for the tooth faery, these little boys and girls get raped repeatedly. I know this happens all over the world, even here in America, but really, how sick and evil can people get? And why isn't the U.N. or other governments fighting this tooth and nail? I'd much rather have my child be blown up by a terrorist and in heaven before he even knew what happened than something like this. Not to say I'm pro terrorism, but like I said, why is this sort of thing not our focus?

Obama says he'd challenge 'dirty' election Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama says he would fight tooth and nail if the 2008 U.S. presidential were close and dirty as the last two.
At a town hall meeting in Jefferson, Iowa, undecided voter Bruce Banister asked Obama if he would challenge the election if you think it is dirty, or if he would back away, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Tuesday.
Obama said he would win by such a margin that it won't even be close and they can't steal the election.
But if results were close as in the 2000 and 2004 election, Obama said (We) will fight it tooth and nail till the end.
His answer however, didn't jibe with his vote on the first day in the U.S. Senate, when he joined a 74-1 majority voting not to challenge President Bush's disputed victory in Ohio in 2004 when Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., was the Democratic nominee. In 2000, former Vice President Al Gore challenged results in Florida that went before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Obama said he voted with the majority because Kerry indicated he wouldn't challenge the Ohio results.

Why did he say two years ago that he would "absolutely" serve out his Senate term, which ends in 2011, and that the idea of him running for president this cycle was "silly" and hype "that's been a little overblown"?
2) Dodd says Obama flip-flopped on social security. Senator Barack Obama's characterized the highly successful Social Security program as being in "crisis," just nine days after he said the opposite stating that "Social Security is not in crisis."
3) Obama flip-flopped on his “one America” position—in his “one America” speech. He said that while Illinoisans don’t expect the government to solve their problems, Illinoisans are going to kick and scream until the government solves their problems.
4) Obama flip-flopped on Alito ("A filibuster would be a waste" then "OK, I'll support a filibuster as a symbolic gesture") and he flip-flopped on lobbying reform.
5) In one debate at Dartmouth College, in Hanover, New Hampshire, with Tim Russert serving as Moderator, Obama just flip-flopped and stated to Tim Russert that he would "do everthing necessary" to stop Iran from becoming a Nuclear Power. If Senator Obama vacillates on his postion when Tim Russert poses a question to him, what would Obama do or say in tense discussions with World Leaders. I reiterate that Obama lacks Leadership.
6) Obama flip-flopped on the Iraq war. Obama was an opponent of the Iraq War from its inception, when he was an Illinois state senator. But later he also said the U.S. now had an obligation to see the war through. "I don’t think any of us should be rooting for failure in Iraq at this point," he said. "This is no longer George Bush’s war. This is our war." . Obama said he would support sending more troops to Iraq if it would hasten the end of the war. An immediate withdrawal, he said, would create "an extraordinary hotbed of terrorist activity" and be "a slap in the face" to the troops fighting there. However, in January, Obama proposed legislation that would have started pulling out troops in May 2007 with a goal of having all combat troops out by March 31, 2008.

He 'gets it' that everything in this country depends on a working class that has honest work at good wages. He understands that no country can continue to borrow money to invest in a conventional war in the muslim east that has no natural stopping place. He's aware that to wage a war against this kind of enemy requires concentrated, international covert action abroad and real security measures at home. He knows, as do most Americans that reducing taxes for the corporations to the degree that the Republicans have insisted robs the treasury and results in the need for more and more borrowed money....money that the American wage-earner will have to repay. Sen. Clinton is on the same page with Obama on these things as well....none of the Republicans are. My advice is to vote in your own self interest if you're a wage-earner and don't be taken in by the people who wave flags and shake the cross in your face. They represent the trans-national corporations and the Jesus freak right...not you! At this point the Republicans consider you a sheep to be sheared. Someday, when the 'Eisenhower' republicans retake their party it may be different, but at this point the GOP is no more than neo-fascisti organization with zero regard for reality. Don't vote for these guys until they learn to behave.
